Past Influences
The Beatles are the original boy band that made young women and girls go crazy. In 1963, they released their music to the United States and came to New York in 1964.
Coming to America brought cultures together and started what is known as, "The British Invasion."

These guys changed music by taking part in the era's socio cultural revolution. Their rock was different from everything else.
How did they get their inspiration?
One inspiration is Cannabis, also known as pot. The band was a strong supporter of the drug, it was no secret.
Bob Dylan is responsible for introducing Paul McCartney to the drug. This started a trend among the band.
Paul McCartney is one member of The Beatles that has been in a lot of trouble due to the drug. He was arrested in Sweden in 1972, then deported from Japan in 1980 when he has cannabis in an airport. McCartney was arrested again in 1984, in Barbados with his first wife and the encounters with the law only continue.
John Lennon was another member who was also known for using drugs. Lennon, was into more harder drugs than McCartney.

Many people claim LSD, mushrooms and other harder drugs give such a "wild trip" it actually helps them think more creatively which in turn makes their final creation, such as writing, better.
There have been obvious connections made between some of The Beatles songs and the drug LSD. One example is "Lucy In the Sky With Diamonds." Looking back, it's kind of obvious... "The Magical Mystery Tour" was the name of an album.
Throughout the years, people have come forward and told the media about the band's drug use. James Stidson wrote, "Friends and I used to admire them all, but we are greatly shocked to find them advocating the legalization of drugs. They used to be great. Now they are a bunch of fools."
There were many people under the wrong impressions though. Other artists who idolized McCartney assumed he liked LSD, when in actuality it was Harrison and Lennon who liked it, McCartney stuck to marijuana. But as we all know, rumors spread and people such as Jon Anderson thought if McCartney makes such amazing chart toppers while on LSD he should do it too. It would make his music better and he would end up being much more successful.
This is just one example of how influential artists can be among their own kind. Influencing others has been happening for decades and will only continue into the future among other famous people and their listeners, viewers and those who idolize them.
